A great book for the agressive beginner

Not only does this book contain information about making blades, but it also has a lot of detailed information about making other parts of the complete knife. Some of the techniques are more advanced, such as lost wax casting, but this is a great resource for the beginner who wants to craft a more complicated knife than a simple piece of steel with a sharp edge. The photographs are plentiful, clear and in color, and add a lot of information to supplement the text. I purchased about a dozen books on making knives for the beginner. All in all, this is my second favorite book on this topic, and I strongly recommend adding it to your bookshelf.

If you're just starting out this is NOT the best option.

Although this book does have allot of good info, several sections of this book are full of pretty pictures without much application to the average home knife builder.
I'll start with the less useful info in the book.
The first chapter leads off with a guy using an EDM machine(electric discharge machining) to begin making his knives, as the process goes on he uses a milling machine to do some of the other work, since I doubt anyone other than the most dedicated knife makers are going to have, or plan to ever purchase, that sort of equipment, it would have been better to see how to do these steps using more common tools and equipment. They were great looking knives but not much info a person could actually apply even in a well equipped home workshop.
The third section makes no sense to me why it was even included, other than maybe to show how production shops used to make knives back in the 80's, it involves using a pantograph machine and making patterns for it. Since pantographs are used to make multiple copies of the same parts, and are obsolete(not very good if you are going into production these days), this really is of no use to a person actually trying to build their own knives.
Another section in the book is about creating steel from raw materials and smelting. Although very interesting, once again not allot of application for the knife builder or anyone else who is not already very experienced in knife making.
This book does have some good sections on basic knife design as well as some good info on casting guards and pommels, overall, I'd say about 1/2 to 2/3 of this book is actually useful.
Even though this book has better pictures, for a person just starting out I would recommend getting this instead How to Make Knives

Georgeous Quilts - Color Photos - Easy to Follow Directions

I love the look of cathedral window quilts, and Laura Nownes book makes it seem easy. The directions are easy to follow, and the book includes several pages of full-sized pattern templates. The book covers both traditional circle/square pieces, and some unusual designs using oblong/rectangular pieces. I also love the photos, which include some gorgeous examples.

Essential book for anyone trying to improve a process

I have used this book extensively in observing processes when I was working as an engineer. Invariably if I got into a situation where I did no know what to do next, this was the book that always helped me out.
Don't let the publication date of 1963 put you off. All this data is still valid.

A fundamental book and a good investment

This book was originally prepared for the US Army as a practical statistics manual, known as Handbook 91, and printed by the US Government Printing Office. Still very useful for the the occasional user of statistical methods like myself. Recommendation: buy now in case it goes out of print again. With Dr. Deming's The New Economics, all you need to start your quality bookshelf. You will need this book to do basic design of experiments without a dedicated computer software; in particular the practical Yates computation is explained by this manual but has been removed from the current edition of Box & Hunter. The National Institute of Standards Engineering Statistics web-based manual is the Internet descendant of Handbook 91.

About the Author
Stephen Ross is presently the Franco Modigliani Professor of Finance and Economics at the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. One of the most widely published authors in finance and economics, Professor Ross is recognized for his work in developing the Arbitrage Pricing Theory and his substantial contributions to the discipline through his research in signaling, agency theory, option pricing, and the theory of the term structure of interest rates, among other topics. A past president of the American Finance Association, he currently serves as an associate editor of several academic and practitioner journals. He is a trustee of CalTech, a director of the College Retirement Equity Fund (CREF), and Freddie Mac. He is also the co-chairman of Roll and Ross Asset Management Corporation.

Randoloph W. Westerfield is Dean of the Marshall School of Business at University of Southern California and holder of the Robert R. Dockson Dean’s Chair of Business Administration. From 1988 to 1993, Professor Westerfield served as the chairman of the School’s finance and business economics department and the Charles B. Thornton Professor of Finance. He came to USC from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he was the chairman of the finance department and member of the finance faculty for 20 years. Bradford D. Jordan is Professor of Finance and Gatton Research Fellow in the Carol Martin Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky. He has a long-standing interest in both applied and theoretical issues in corporate finance, and has extensive experience teaching all levels of corporate finance and financial management policy. Professor Jordan has published numerous articles on issues such as cost of capital, capital structure, and the behavior of security prices.

I ordered this book for my finance class. I recieved the book in an excellent condition and delivery time was very reasonable. I also got an excellent deal on the book since it is an older version , but the teacher is okay using an older version since there weren't a lot of changes between the new edition and the old one. This is the sixth week of classes and I am cvery happy with the book.

I have searched for years on a good source for the wanna be option trader who did not understand some of the basics such as what is an option, how does it work, where does it get its pricing from, and what criteria do you use to make a wise option investment decision. If you have the same questions that I had then this is the book for you. I bought it for my stepsons since I have done so well following the guidance of this book. As of today 8/4/14 I have a 61% win percentage. Thank You Mr Williams!

Note: It is now March 29, 2015 and my successful options percentate is still around 61%. The other thing Billy Williams did for me was to introduce me to Investors Business Daily(IBD). Combining my lessons on option trading and the stock buying methods of IBD my portfolio gained 71% over the last 12 months. I would add a sixth star to the review if that was possible.

After using many other methods i come across this book wile on a friends computer i had read another publishing by the author so suggested we give it a go...i felt like it gave us a solid foundation to understanding option trading, it was like getting step-by-step methods to profiting with trading.couldn't ask for more in a book. he new his stuff!

My husband and I were looking for another way to make money so that we could start saving for a house. One of his friends had mentioned investing in the stock market. This made me a little leery being as the economy is not the greatest at this time but I figured I would start small and see how it went. Being as I had absolutely no experience, I ventured onto Amazon to find a book that could help me out. That was when I came across Simple Option Trading Formulas. The first word in the title caught my attention: simple. That was just what I needed!

The book promises the following: *Give this book an hour and you'll have a firm grasp of the essential option trading basics*

The author was 100% correct! In fact, within 30 minutes (two chapters into the book), I already felt like I had a grasp on the basics of trading. The book went on to educate on how to avoid certain risks and how to profit from the most basic of trades. Everything was laid out in such a simple form that I was able to easily follow along. So far, I have profited over $300 in trades since starting this book. This may not seem like a lot but this is a great start considering I have never done this before. I can't believe I never looked into doing this sooner. My goal is to have enough for a down payment for a house next year. Thanks to the amazing instructions I learned from Billy, I don't think that I will be a problem :) I recommend this book 100%!

NOT WHAT IT SEEMS

my daughter wanted a book on how to style hair, this book is great for teaching the basics of care and a right cut but not styling. it gave the impression it "showed" how to style your own hair when infact the pictures are of someone else doing the styles on a model. wanting a book with pictures of that individual actually fixing their own hair so show placement of hands and equipment when used.

It's OK but Eva Scrivo on Beauty blows it out of the water!

I bought this on my kindle and have had it a few years now, I got a few tips from it but not much. The detailed lists of products are helpful but he isn't as helpful when it comes to cuts that you can take a picture of to your hairdresser (or open your kindle and show them).

This reads more like a celebrity hairdresser (which he is) dishing on what he did for this or that woman's hair.

Eva Scrivo does all that and more.

This book had lots of great tips for styling hair and keeping it healthy. It was also well written, especially given that the stylist is not a professional writer. The photos and quality of the book are also very good. I got lots of great tips from this book that I use every day.

Great Review of Anesthesiology

This book is a significant improvement over the last edition which, I think is about 10 years old. Full color high quality pictures, a some of which are Netter pictures (yep, remember all the time you spent with this book in first year anatomy), and a lot of concise charts and graphs. The type, maybe a tad on the smallish side, but that is no reason to not get this book. It provides concise summaries of topics with good references from which you can look up more information on a topic if needed. And, if you purchase the physical book, Expert Consult has an app though which you can download a copy of the book to your iPad/iPhone (probably other devices) which makes a book with this many chapters very easy to navigate. You can also highlight and take notes in the app. Overall, a good book to add to a residents collection in preparation for boards or the ITE.

Perfect for boards

This is all you need for written boards. I just took boards July 2014 and I wish I had read Faust cover to cover twice. Do not relly on test questions for boards, which is a different exam from the in-service.

"Faust's Anesthesiology Review, Fourth Edition" is distinguished by its decidedly concise and focused outline format, which makes it one of the best available educational resources for Anesthesiology residents. It is well-written, well-organized, and well-referenced, and it is especially useful in the preparation for the annual In-Training Examination, as well as the actual ABA Written Board Examination. "Faust's Anesthesiology Review, Fourth Edition" is an outstanding Anesthesiology Textbook, and I give it a five-star rating, along with my highest recommendation.

LOVE. I have so much love and appreciation for Sawyer Bennett. She simply is an amazing author who continues to write beautiful love stories and LOVE: UNCIVILIZED really captured this sentiment to the core. I love when authors surprises readers with a follow-up novella that allows readers to get a glimpse of what happened to their favorite fictional characters and I couldn't be more thrilled to catch up with Zach and Moira. Love takes place eight years later and Zach and Moira are happily married with their two beautiful kids but along the way, that sizzling connection that they shared had a few bumps along the way. Zach is constantly busy at work and staying late. He is missing out on quality family time. And Moira is a stay at home mom who misses teaching. As they go on through the monotone motions of life, they both realized that they need to get back that spark and connection that made them Zach and Moira. Can Zach and Moira reignite their devotion and love for each other?

I absolutely loved this novella because it's so raw, honest and exposes the reality of any marriage. Zach and Moira could easily represent any married couple with children. Sometimes we got so busy with our work that we fail to see the really important things in life. Like quality time with the children and making more an effort to appreciate and be there for your significant other. I love that Ms. Bennett exposes that yes Moira and Zach are soulmates but they are humans who can easily make mistakes. But rest assured Zach and Moira still have that burning LOVE and spark to set hearts racing. What else can I say but go read this sweet, touching, and raw novella. Be prepared to fall in love all over again with Zach and Moira. Thank you Sawyer Bennett for this beautiful, uplifting and inspiring love story.

I just knew it was Sawyer Bennett and I love her writing

Confession time, when I signed up to read and review this book I didn’t realize it was a novella to another story. I just knew it was Sawyer Bennett and I love her writing, so I signed up immediately. That being said, I loved it and now I just want to read Moira and Zach’s story.

Love: Uncivilized picks up with Zach and Moira eight years later. They are married with children, living the dream and their happily ever after. Look I am not a fan of stories like this, I prefer to go into my bubble and pretend that things are always good and happy in my romances. So, I was crazy nervous to read this – even knowing I hadn’t read their original story – I still wanted to my happily ever after.

I was completely wrong in my fear, because this story just made this couple more endearing and real to me. I completely fell in love with these two. Moira and Zach are not perfect. They have insecurities and issues, but I loved how they worked through them and in the end choose to fight. I love how despite their issues they never questioned their love and commitment to each other and their family.

This novella was absolutely perfect and I do think reading Uncivilized first would just make me love it so much more. So while you can read it as a standalone, I will warn you, it will definitely have you reaching for their original story!

This is What Happily Ever After Looks Like.....

Uncivilized was one of my favorite books of 2014. I love that Sawyer Bennett has given us a behind the sunset view of Zach & Moira's life, eight years later. It is sweet. It is messy. But it is a life that feels authentic to not only this amazing couple, but anyone who is balancing all the things in their lives. This book couldn't have come at a more perfect time. Loved it so much!!
