Loved this study guide. Took the test once before and just missed the passing grade. Using this book to study and already feel more confident then I did before taking the test the first time. Organized and simple to read. Covers every topic to the fullest. Would recommend for anyone studying for the CSCS exam.

Not a bad casebook

This was one of my better casebooks in my first year classes. As law students know, some books are much better than others. This one had a bit of narrative to it and some interesting historical information. The cases were generally interesting, some of them hilarious. As far as texts go, it was good. I didn't love it, but it was good. It covered a lot more material than my class did, so I can't comment on all of it, but it is thorough.

Chris Barker�is a teacher and researcher with over 25 years experience. He has worked in a number of schools and universities in both England and Australia. He is currently Associate Professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Wollongong, NSW, Australia. This is an impressing critical overview of the broad specter of theories and methods under the umbrella of cultural studies. The book gives you some sense of direcion as you enter into the sea of confusion made up by the various schools of thought that have influenced todays cultural studies, be it withing media, popular music, folklore or popular studies in general. The book includes a glossary of key concepts, and can be read like a companion to cultural studies. I found a lot of valuable information as the author traced the historic roots of various subjects, enabeling me to change perspective with him as he went along. I am myself a music student, studying within the field of popular music...

The book shows the author's breadth in grasping and interacting with various theoretical schools of thought and their founders. Each theory is assessed succintly and critically. The book provides a window to look into the world of those who have changed the way we live, our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. A summary is provided at the end of each chapter. Overall, "Cultural Studies: Theory and Practice" is a good place to start to learning the subject matter.

The mere fact that the author is a lecturer at an Australian University gives a fair, deep and non Eurocentrist perspective of key concepts, ideology, identity, and the challanges of postmodern and postcolonial cultural studies to achive a significant cultural policy. Excellent as textbook too.

Needs a good editing

This is an exhaustive text on corporate finance; however, it is best used in conjunction with clear lectures. The exercises in the text can be quite challenging; however, there appear to be more than a few errors or inconsistencies between the text and Damodaran's helpful website. Trying to discern which version of a question and answer is correct can be a somewhat frustrating process. Unfortunately, these inconsistencies seem to persist even through new editions.

Excellent for references

I used this book for reference during my grad introduction to finance class. It was very helpful for whenever I needed to go back to some concept or definition. I never really read a full chapter, but as mentioned went directly to portions of the text. This worked perfect for me.
